Império do Divino Espírito Santo

The impérios [Small Temples] are buildings aimed for the exhibition of elements of the Holy Spirit’s cult, namely the crown, the banner and the staffs.

This temple was built in 1878, having already been the target of two reconstruction works. This temple gets special attention on the Sundays of the Espirito Santo and Trinidade, when the traditional soups of the Holy Spirit are served, the “casa dos bolos” opens, not to forget the emblematic arraial (fair). The parish of Ribeira Seca has the peculiarity of dividing into "two sides" - the side of there and the "side of here," as they are commonly known, a division that determines who gives the feast of the Holy Spirit and that of the Trinity. This parish also offers soups of the Holy Spirit, there is the coronation and the cakes of eve, but there is a different tradition: on Monday there is a arraial (fair) near the Church and the temple and the "casa dos bolos" is open. Also highlight for the "bolos de véspera" (sweet cakes), an opportunity to serve some refreshments. During the fair, while playing the philharmonic, the population is invited to visit both houses.
