Azores elected among the 10 most sustainable leaders in the world and the best Atlantic destination

The most sustainable destinations in the world were unveiled at the ITB fair in Berlin at the end of the fair opening day. The Azores were among the finalists selected by a jury represented by 12 international organizations, in a total of the 100 most sustainable destinations in the world.

Among the various existing categories the Azores were considered the best destination in the Atlantic and was still considered at the end of the ceremony as one of the 10 most sustainable destinations in the world. The Azores were considered one of the best destinations among the best in the world, as an example of quality tourism, attractiveness and sustainability. These destinations are now considered as examples of best practices for managing a destination, involving local communities and avoiding the problems of over-tourism, as witnessed in other destinations around the world.
