Microbial Observatory of the Azores

The Azores Microbial Observatory (OMIC) is a scientific and technological dissemination centre that seeks to promote scientific knowledge in the field of MICROBIOLOGY, disseminating the importance of microorganisms on planet Earth, with an emphasis on the microbial diversity found in the thermal springs, volcanic cavities and lakes of the Azores.

OMIC is housed in a building of important heritage and architectural value: the former Casa de Banhos Termais - Chalé de Misturas, Furnas, in a central ‘Caldeiras’ area, easily accessible to the population.
