In 2009, the National Prize Tektónica/Order of the Architects was awarded to the Centre of Visitors of the caves Gruta das Torres, on the island of Pico. The Centre was built to support the visits into the Cave and it received the awarded for the “proposed serenity of the emerging construction”, as per the President of the Jury.
