























7 Natural Wonders of Portugal
The Sete Cidades Crater Lake, on São Miguel Island, will be the stage for the Evening Gala in which the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal will be announced. Besides this lake, the Autonomous Region of the Azores also entered four other locations that are amongst the 21 finalists, namely the the Enxofre Cave (Graciosa Island), the Carvão Cave (Terceira Island), the Natural Reserve of the Fogo Crater Lake (São Miguel Island) and the Volcanic Landscape of Pico Island (Pico Island). The Portuguese people will vote to choose the winners, which will be announced on 11 September 2010, bringing to an end the selection process of the 7 New Natural Wonders of Portugal. A total of 323 applications were submitted and divided by seven categories, namely Forests and Woods, Mountains, Caves, Beaches and Cliffs, Maritime Areas, Non-maritime Aquatic Areas and Protected Areas.
